This badge is awarded to Shani Weerasinghe in recognition of her valuable contribution to the FORTHEM Green Travel Grid initiative.

The student actively collaborated with fellow students from the FORTHEM Alliance and with the coordinators of the FORTHEM Green Sustainability Unit, dedicating a total of 20 hours to the project. Through effective teamwork and a strong commitment to sustainability, she produced high-quality materials aimed at promoting environmentally responsible mobility across the Alliance.

Overview of the Work Carried Out

As part of this activity, Shani prepared and documented green travel routes for the FORTHEM Green Travel Grid. Her work focused on the following routes:

Jyväskylä - Opole and Jyväskylä - Riga

For each route, she researched, compared, and documented four different modes of travel:

Air travel (plane) Rail transport (train) Long-distance bus Car travel

The comparison considered practical travel options and contributed to raising awareness of more sustainable travel choices within the FORTHEM community. Her work supports the Alliance's commitment to environmental sustainability and informed decision-making regarding mobility.
