Criteria

Learning Outcomes

The micro-credential confirms that the learner possesses in-depth knowledge, practical skills, and social competencies in the field of modelling and simulation of complex systems, with a particular focus on agent-based approaches and the use of machine learning algorithms and biologically inspired artificial intelligence.

The learner who earned the micro-credential knows and understands:

  • the concepts of agent-based modeling and simulation of real-world phenomena,
  • techniques and algorithms used in agent-based simulation systems,
  • selected methods of machine learning and algorithms of biologically inspired artificial intelligence,
  • the stages of designing, verifying, and validating simulation models.

The learner is able to:

  • develop an agent-based model of a selected biological, social, or economic phenomenon,
  • implement a simulation model using programming tools and libraries,
  • integrate machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence with agent-based simulations,
  • conduct simulation experiments and analyze and interpret their results.

The learner demonstrates:

  • the ability to critically assess the technical and non-technical aspects of simulation applications,
  • awareness of the ethical and social implications of using advanced simulation techniques.

Assessment Method(s)

The micro-credential was granted on the basis of a positive evaluation of a simulation project and partial tasks completed during laboratory sessions and lectures.

The verification of the learning outcomes considered, in particular:

  • the accuracy of the development and implementation of the agent-based simulation model,
  • the quality of the designed simulation experiments,
  • the validity of the analysis and interpretation of the results.

Mode of Delivery

The micro-credential certifies the completion of 75 hours of theoretical classes, practical sessions, and independent student work. The classes were project-based.

Quality Assurance Arrangements Underpinning the Micro-credential

The issuance of the micro-credential is based on a coherent outcome matrix (knowledge, skills, and social competencies) – content – assessments, their verification, and agreed-upon teaching methods, in accordance with the course syllabus (practical profile) and under the supervision of the course coordinator. The quality of education is ensured by transparent criteria and passing thresholds, systematic evaluation of results, and periodic updates of content and methods based on conclusions from assessments and feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
