The twin transition is one of the main challenges of the EU and policy-makers are calling for digital and sustainable solutions leading the way towards the twin transition to foster new business opportunities and create awareness within the society. To manage these challenges, the right knowledge, skills and competences are needed. Criteria

Learning Path1: Sustainability Practitioner

Designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the green transition and implement sustainable practices in business. This learning path covers key topics such as understanding current environmental challenges, valuing sustainability, and how businesses can adapt to remain competitive while benefiting the planet. Supported by the GreenComp Framework, the Sustainability Practitioner Learning Path will help participants identify and leverage opportunities in the green transition, preparing them to become a successful sustainability practitioner who can drive meaningful change in today's evolving business landscape.

Learning Goals

  • Define 'valuing sustainability' and the core elements of sustainable systems, including causal relationships and systems thinking.
  • Describe sustainability from a systems perspective, including the identification of stakeholders and actors, and the construction and analysis of systems loops.
  • Recognise international sustainability goals and regulations, and understand the criticality of sustainability visions for businesses.
  • Understand the principles of a low carbon economy and decarbonisation methods, and assess their implications for businesses.
  • Identify the benefits of renewable resources, their impact on sustainability, and related global trends and regulations.
  • Analyse the value of green certifications, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the European Green Deal Principles for companies.
  • Apply principles of circular economy to extend product use, improve recycling, and evaluate the importance of sustainability education and competencies within the EU.

The Sustainability Practitioner learning experience is a flexible self-paced journey that develops hands-on skills to prepare learners for real-world challenges. It has a flexible and innovative approach, allowing to adapt content to different realities. It includes:

Awarding Criteria and Estimated Effort

This credential is awarded for the successful completion of all activities and evaluations included in Learning Path 1. The participant who receives this credential has completed approximately 16 hours of dedication.
