Sopra Steria's Cloud academy aims to increase understanding of application development, containerization, and cloud native development. The course consists of three evening sessions, each lasting three hours. Through lectures, discussions, and practical tasks, participants have received training in everything from application modernization, containerization, cloud native development, deployment, and setting up modern runtime environments with CI/CD pipelines. During the course, the participant modernized a service running on outdated frameworks, with outdated dependencies and significant modernization needs. The service was migrated to the latest version of the framework and modernized to follow best practices. Through the academy, the participant also refactored and containerized this service. Furthermore, the participant deployed the service to cloud infrastructure and got the application running in a modern runtime environment. Upon completing the Cloud Academy, participants should have the tools to analyze existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and design optimized services that can seamlessly integrate into modern cloud infrastructure and runtime environments. An important goal of the course is also to equip participants to contribute effectively to teams working on application modernization and cloud development.
