Learning Objectives/Outcomes

• Identify the main components of natural disaster risk.
• Recognize the importance of incorporating natural disaster risk analysis (including climate change effects) into the infrastructure project cycle.
• Carry out qualitative disaster-risk assessments to guide decision making in infrastructure projects.
• Understand and evaluate quantitative disaster-risk assessments to guide decision making in infrastructure projects.
• Identify when conducting qualitative assessments is the appropriate approach and when quantitative assessments should also be carried out to perform risk analysis in infrastructure projects.
• Identify the technical and economic feasibility of infrastructure projects through a qualitative or quantitative disaster-risk analysis.
• Make risk-informed recommendations for the design, construction, and operation of infrastructures and disaster-risk-governance regarding public investment.
