Specialization in Education and Climate Change - Intermediate Level

For this, we need people who not only have the right skills but also are passionate about improving lives.

Learning goals

1. Identify factors that are altered or contribute to climate change, such as Earth systems, weather, energy, agriculture and food, and cities, while developing actions for adaptation and environmental sustainability
2. Prepare a diagnosis and subsequent action plan to create understanding within the school community and students about the short and long-term causes, effects, and risks of climate change
3. Promote climate change mitigation and adaptation actions in their schools

Learning experience and activities 

Self-paced e-learning that includes:

• Learning from various resources such as videos, infographics, and readings
• Engaging in interactive or collaborative learning exercises that are not assessed
• Participating in discussion forums
• Learning from online games in support of climate change
• Completing evaluative summative quizzes
• Engage in observation and analysis activities within the school environment
• Design activities for diagnosing and analyzing ecological awareness, sustainable environments, and motivating their class or school
• Develop or adapt a lesson plan or extracurricular activity using Súbete materials (videos, games, lesson plans, and green kit)
• Develop or adapt an awareness campaign about the causes, effects, and risks of climate change for their school community
• Develop an analysis of the school's conditions
• Create an action plan to mitigate the climate change footprint of their school community (e.g., reducing water usage, promoting the use of sustainable energy sources in the school, decreasing solid waste production, or encouraging responsible material consumption)
• Develop a risk mitigation plan within the school community with the goal of adapting to climate change

Assessment

To obtain this digital badge, the recipient must satisfactorily pass the courses that make up the specialization, satisfactorily completing the corresponding learning activities and summative evaluations to reach or exceed the minimum passing score for each course.
