The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through BIDAcademy, issues the following badge and certifies that the recipient has participated in the virtual preparatory activities of the 4th PH4H Regional Connectathon 2025 (Pan-American Highway for Digital Health). These activities began on October 7, 2025, and were aimed at strengthening the technical capacities of the teams, enabling the progress required for the subsequent in-person phase, which will take place from October 27 to 30, 2025, in San Salvador, El Salvador. With the support of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Digital Health (RACSEL), funding from the Government of Japan, and multiple strategic partners, these exercises represented a key step toward building an interoperable digital health network in the region.

Criteria

Learning objectives

Strengthen the technical capacities of national teams through prior virtual activities, enabling them to achieve the necessary progress to effectively participate in the in-person phase of the PH4H 2025 Regional Connectathon.

Learning experience and activities

Participants carried out virtual activities focused on technical testing, collaborative exercises with international standards, and joint preparation dynamics, generating practical learning for the subsequent in-person phase.

The learning experience of the Connectathon was structured into two key thematic tracks for the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region:

  • Track 1 - Cross-border Continuity of Care: Participants practically developed their own International Patient Summary (IPS-LAC), using the IPS profile adapted to the region. Through the implementation of a Verifiable Health Link (VHL), the feasibility of secure and controlled exchange of health data via mobile devices was demonstrated.

  • Track 2 - Digital Vaccination Certificates: Participants generated, exchanged, and validated vaccination certificates based on the WHO's ICVP international standard. This practical activity allowed participants to familiarize themselves with the tools and processes necessary for implementation.

As a result of these activities, participants acquired the necessary skills and tools to advance the digital transformation of their health systems and thus demonstrate their readiness for cross-border exchange of health data, including vaccines and continuity of care. Additionally, they have acquired the technical skills necessary to integrate into the WHO's Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN) and mastery of PH4H Trust
