To acquire the skills necessary to take part in building the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health (PH4H), opening new opportunities for an interoperable regional health system.
To earn this digital badge, representatives from Ministries of Health, government agencies, or organizations related to Digital Health were required to successfully complete 100% of the tests in at least one of the following two tracks:
Track 1 - Cross-border Continuity of Care: Participants practically developed their own International Patient Summary (IPS-LAC), using the IPS profile adapted to the region. Through the implementation of a Verifiable Health Link (VHL), the feasibility of secure and controlled exchange of health data via mobile devices was demonstrated.
Track 2 - Digital Vaccination Certificates: Participants generated, exchanged, and validated vaccination certificates based on the WHO's ICVP international standard. This practical activity allowed participants to familiarize themselves with the tools and processes necessary for implementation.
As a result of these activities, participants acquired the necessary skills and tools to advance the digital transformation of their health systems and thus demonstrate their readiness for cross-border exchange of health data, including vaccines and continuity of care. Additionally, they have acquired the technical skills necessary to integrate into the WHO's Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN) and mastery of PH4H Trust
The preparation for the regional Connectathon covered the following topics:
Participation in all the sessions of this event required an estimated effort of 24 hours.
The PH4H is an initiative of the IDB, PAHO, and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to improve the health of their populations. Through technology, PH4H seeks to ensure that people can securely access their health data and services from anywhere in the region. The initiative promotes the interoperability of systems and the exchange of information within and between countries to improve care and strengthen the region’s health systems.
