FORTHEM (Fostering Outreach within European Regions, Transnational Higher Education and Mobility)  is a network of nine multidisciplinary public research universities in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain. Green Sustainability is one of the main focuses of the FORTHEM Alliance which moves towards a sustainable and green European university. For this purpose, a Green Sustainability Unit has been made up of Academic and Administrative experts from each partner University as a central contact point for activities and requests concerning environmental sustainability within the Alliance. One of the objectives of this unit is to elaborate a common Code of Conduct, including teaching recommendations, which results from the review process of current practices and policy across partners University. Selected interns will have the opportunity to actively participate in this project, coordinated by an international team of experts.

Criteria

During the internship of the green unit of the Digital Academy Office of the FORTHEM Alliance, the recipient of this badge participated to the compilation of a common code of conduct on green sustainability. Starting from the analysis of documents, completed questionnaires and suggested web pages, this intern participated in identifying and describing practices and initiatives focused on green sustainability in FORTHEM universities.

Minimum 75 hours / Minimum 3 ECTS

Green Sustainability is one of the main focuses of the FORTHEM Alliance which moves towards a sustainable and green European university. GOAL OF THE INTERNSHIP is to map best practices in the field of environmental sustainability within universities of the Forthem Alliance.       

OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP:    

  • Development of analytical skills: Learn how to analyze and synthesize data, questionnaire responses, or other relevant information.   

  • Research skills: Acquire competence in conducting thorough research, including data collection from diverse sources and synthesizing them into a coherent context.   

  • Communication skills: Develop the ability to present and communicate results clearly and persuasively.   

  • Time Management and Organization: Learn to plan and manage work efficiently, meeting deadlines and predetermined objectives.   

  • Problem-Solving skills: Learn to address and resolve challenges that may arise during the mapping process, such as interpretation of complex data.   

  • Continuous Learning: Develop a mindset oriented towards continuous learning, acquiring new knowledge and skills specific to the field of study.   

  • Critical and analytical thinking: Develop the ability to critically evaluate collected information, distinguishing between valid data and less reliable sources.   

METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH  

Starting from the analysis of documents, completed questionnaires and suggested web pages, the student will identify and describe practices and initiatives focused on green sustainability in universities. In detail, a specific description of the above practices/initiatives for each university of the FORTHEM Alliance will be done. At the end, general recommendations will be identified  

OUTPUTS   

To collaborate in a final report on the best practices in the field of environmental sustainability within universities of the FORTHEM Alliance.   

ON COMPLETION OF THIS PROGRAM, THE STUDENT WILL WALK AWAY WITH:   Open badge  

At least 3 ECTS Points to be recognized at home University. The specific amount of ECTS will be defined after selection according to the rules of the home University of the selected intern.

WORKING LANGUAGE: English

ASSESMENT FORMAT   

Continuous feedback loops and periodic evaluations will be implemented to measure progress, refine methodologies, and ensure alignment with program objectives.
