This badge is for the Safeguarding module, part of the Cross-Cutting Subjects pathway. This badge demonstrates the learner has essential safeguarding awareness, in line with the FIELD Programme's guidance. The Safeguarding module takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Criteria

The earner of this badge can successfully demonstrate that they:

  • Understand safeguarding principles and definitions
  • Can consider what safeguarding means in the context in which you work and why it is so important
  • Can identify personal and organisational responsibilities towards safeguarding
  • Know how to report safeguarding concerns
  • Can identify and put into practice steps to ensure safer programming
  • Know what services are available
  • Can identify what should be in place in an organisation and what the gaps are

This badge is earned by completing the necessary activities, knowledge check tasks and feedback requests within FIELD Safeguarding.

FIELD has been developed by Save the Children, with support of World Vision International and is available for free on Kaya, the global online learning platform.

WHAT IS THE FIELD PROGRAMME? FIELD is a ground-breaking capacity building programme. FIELD’s focus is to develop the pool of local, national, and international staff who can prepare for and take charge of in-country operational programmes in humanitarian responses. The FIELD Programme comprises of a number of online learning resources, organised into themed pathways.
