Opintokeskus Sivis on valtakunnallinen aikuisoppilaitos, joka toteuttaa, tutkii, kehittää, ohjaa ja tukee järjestöllistä koulutusta. Sivis järjestää vuosittain jäsenyhteisöjensä kanssa opintojaksoja noin 80 000 tuntia. Vertaisopintoryhmissä opiskellaan 47 000 tuntia ja ammatillisessa lisäkoulutuksessa 37 000 tuntia. Osallistujia on yhteensä noin 140 000.

Siviksen toimintaa rahoittaa, arvioi ja valvoo Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö. Toimintaa ylläpitää Opintotoiminnan Keskusliitto ry, ja sitä valvovat Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö sekä Opetushallitus. Toiminnasta säädetään vapaata sivistystyötä koskevassa laissa.

The earner of this badge:

  • Has a deeper understanding of non-formal adult education /Nordic folkbildning and its typical features.

  • Has a range of cognitive and practical skills required to cope with spontaneous changes or unexpected situations that might arise in courses or learning events.

  • Has an understanding of group processes and the flexibility to adapt his/her own role according to the group’s development.

  • Can recognise and balance different roles in a group in order to maintain and further a collaborative, open and accepting atmosphere.

  • Can lead a course toward both shared course goals and individual participants’ specific aims as well as facilitating participants’ general development and growth.

  • Has at his/her disposal a variety of methods to lead the group in a democratic way and can help other pedagogues/ group leaders to deal with day-to-day issues in their folkbildning courses.
