Opintokeskus Sivis on valtakunnallinen aikuisoppilaitos, joka toteuttaa, tutkii, kehittää, ohjaa ja tukee järjestöllistä koulutusta. Sivis järjestää vuosittain jäsenyhteisöjensä kanssa opintojaksoja noin 80 000 tuntia. Vertaisopintoryhmissä opiskellaan 47 000 tuntia ja ammatillisessa lisäkoulutuksessa 37 000 tuntia. Osallistujia on yhteensä noin 140 000.

Siviksen toimintaa rahoittaa, arvioi ja valvoo Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö. Toimintaa ylläpitää Opintotoiminnan Keskusliitto ry, ja sitä valvovat Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö sekä Opetushallitus. Toiminnasta säädetään vapaata sivistystyötä koskevassa laissa.

  • Understands the role of adult education in lifelong and lifewide learning as it is described in folkbildning.

  • Can plan and lead the learning process in a way that allows for a democratic approach.

  • Can deploy a number of different methods, suitable for non-formal adult education/Nordic folkbildning.

  • Shows an attitude of folkbildning in terms of roles and relations within a group and towards the group’s work.
