Public Involvement (PI) in research can be described as research being carried out 'with' or 'by' members of the public, rather than 'to', 'about' or 'for' them. Pl is gaining momentum and is increasingly recognised as essential by research funders, academic journals, and ethics committees. This digital badge comprises five online modules which aim to 1) introduce core concepts relating to Pl in research, 2) demonstrate how to conduct meaningful and effective Pl, 3) present case studies and practical examples of Pl, 4) outline how to plan and conduct virtual involvement activities and 3) demonstrate how researchers can evaluate their Pl activities. Each module will be delivered through a series of online webinars. Each webinar will be pre- recorded and will last for a duration of 45 minutes each. Webinars will be delivered by national and international experts in Pl and will include members of the public and representatives from community, patient, and public organisations that have been previously involved in research as Pl contributors. This digital badge is aimed at researchers at all levels of their career. This includes Undergraduate students, Postgraduate students, Early and Senior Postdoctoral Researchers, Research Fellows, Principal Investigators and Research Support Personnel. Researchers within and outside UCC will be eligible to undertake this digital badge.
