It provided a framework for a spectrum of recognition that can support pathways for skills development and mobility across levels of complexity and formality, showing how digital badges can be useful containers for portable recognition, skills transformation and personal empowerment.\n\nThe presentation prepared the way for a later interactive “Badge Canvas” exercise, where participants could collaborate in groups to develop innovative solutions to green skills recognition challenges.\n\n\n\n### Learning Experience, Activities\n\nThis 120 minute webinar session was followed by an opportunity for reflection using a scaffolded submission form.\n\n### Assessment\n\nAfter the webinar session, the badge recipient completed a badge application reflecting on what they learned and how they might apply it in their professional practice.\n\nThis is a **Reflective Learner** participation badge with no formal assessment of learning, just light validation of the badge recipient's professional reflections.\n\n\n### Estimated learning effort\n\n2.25 hours, including post-webinar reflection\n\n\n \n______________________________________________________\n\n\n### About Green Skills for Makerspace Leaders Across Africa\n\nThis seed funding grant was awarded by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAeNG) in partnership with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), the Alliance for Greening Skills and Opportunities (AGSO), Jacob's Ladder Africa, and the Royal Society, with funding from the UK Government's Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. \n\nThe grant was awarded to partnership led by the Internet of Production Alliance (Andrew Lamb), working with UNDP UniPods, FabLab Winam, Africa Makerspaces, Catherine Maine and Learning Agents (Don Presant). The partnership was sparked at an RAEng symposium, held in Nairobi in February 2026, entitled [**Accelerating the green transition through skills and innovation**](https://www.raeng.org.uk/programmes-and-prizes/programmes/international-programmes/frontiers/resource-library/event-reports/green-skills-accelerating-the-green-transition-through-skills-and-innovation/).\n \n![Partner logos banner](https://openbadgefactory.com/c/htmltemplate/image/TGWG84a2EO0Oa84J/TH1YILa2EO0Ua3V6 \"Partner logos banner\")","id":"https://openbadgefactory.com/v1/badge/_/TH1TU9aFJZAa10Q/criteria.html?v=2.0&c_id=f60389f68e01ed2cbc18735cc68946f20e2a406a49e51cd9e13a5f29675cba50"},"type":["Achievement"],"description":"Badge holder has improved their awareness of inclusive ways to recognise Green Skills for Makerspace Leaders Across Africa.
