A well-designed development project presents the main and specific objectives, the expected results as well as the indicators linked to them and sets the basis to monitor and evaluate project performance at exit. Enhancing the skills to design projects is essential to ensure that operations are robust, measurable and assessable. The holder of this badge has demonstrated his or her ability to (i) identify the key information to define a project’s problem, solution and relevance; (ii) to set up project targets and indicators for monitoring and evaluation when formulating the Proposal for Operation Development (POD) and the Matrix results (MDR); (iii) to apply the Development Effectiveness Matrix (DEM) checklist to perform an ex-ante evaluation that ensures the evaluability quality standards in a project design. The holder of this badge acquired these skills in the How to Design Development Projects course within the framework of the Operations Learning Program, which is offered by the Inter-American Institute for Economic and Social Development (INDES) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
