- Earner has attended a ‘Post Election 101’ webinar in which they developed their political awareness. They have gained knowledge about the General Election process and results, the role of an MP, and what to expect in the first 100 days of a new parliament. The session also covered why and how to effectively research the MP’s background and views, including internet and other sources, and how to use this research to find common ground between one’s and their MP’s motivations.
- Earner has attended a ‘Welcoming your new MP’ webinar to develop their skills in effectively communicating and relationship building with their elected official. They have learned about how to establish a relationship, understand and be empathetic to what an MP can and cannot do, and how to develop specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) asks to influence them.
- Earner has attended a ‘Writing to your MP’ webinar to learn about how to effectively write to and meet with an MP to discuss issues of climate policy, decarbonising schools, and climate education, as well as other issues they care about. They have learned how to prepare for a meeting with a representative, crafted a persuasive letter to them in an interactive activity, and considered how to follow up after a meeting to ensure their goals are reached.
