Self Management

Self Management is one of the careercred and CBI (Confederation of British Industry) core skills for the workplace. This badge is about taking responsibility for your own learning and development, managing your approach to tasks and your openness to new ideas.

To earn this badge you need to demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Ability to follow instruction, self-start without procrastination and complete tasks started
  • Ability to manage your time effectively, prioritise tasks and attend to the job at hand
  • Flexibility - i.e. you are open to new ideas and you are willing to try new experiences and to meet new people
  • Ability to improve your performance based on your own reflective learning and practice and through seeking understanding through questioning and feedback from others

To demonstrate these abilities you must complete the following FOUR tasks:

  1. Identify a self management technique that has improved your performance
  2. Reflect on a time when you demonstrated flexibility
  3. Understand your strengths and weaknesses
  4. Critically assess your competence in the FOUR Self Management abilities listed above
