The badge earner has completed the Open Science Train-the-Trainer Programme delivered by The Center for Open Science (COS) as part of the UKRN Open Research Programme. This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to provide training in open science practices for researchers at their institutions. In parallel, participants consider the pedagogical methods that can be used to develop, facilitate, and adapt the modules to participant communities of research. Participants who complete the training are considered to have the knowledge required to teach the course content. However, any training session they teach should not be branded as COS training without prior permission from COS.

Criteria

The badge earner attended three online training sessions, participated in one pedagogy discussion and delivered one training activity with a relevant research community as described below:

Stage 1. Training

Week 1. Introduction to Open Science

  • Learn about the benefits and mandates in performing open science

  • Be aware of barriers, risks and costs associate with open science practices

  • Learn about research evidence supporting open science adoption

Week 2. Data Management

  • Create a data management plan

  • Create data dictionary or codebook

  • Identify and select suitable data repositories, using tools such as FAIRsharing

Week 3. Research Collaborations

  • Organize your project materials

  • Set up a collaborative environment for research team on OSF

  • Choose appropriate access and permission settings for your workspace

Week 4: Pedagogy Discussion

Learn about pedagogy and effective teaching tips to engage audience, through instructor-led discussions and small group activities.

Stage 2. Deliverables

Provide at least one training activity for relevant research communities, eg. presentation at a department seminar, workshop at a conference, a lecture in your program, following completion of the course.
