Criteria

Recipient has marked complete all of the on-the-job tasks listed in the Partner from the Start toolkit by Cathy Moore. Skills practiced include:

  • Confirm that the training requestor is the person who "owns" the performance problem
  • Help the client clarify the performance problem and identify a specific group who needs to change
  • Help identify a measure that will show how the organization benefits when the problem is solved
  • Independently research the performance problem to see how other organizations have solved it and what studies have shown to work
  • Help the client shift their focus from transmitting knowledge to changing behavior
  • Help the client specify what people need to do on the job to achieve the desired change
  • Help the client identify the barriers to performance of the high-priority job tasks
  • Brainstorm efficient non-training solutions to performance barriers, such as improving tools and processes
  • Propose only the necessary amount and type of training to support the required behaviors, and tell the client when training is not the solution
  • When training is part of the solution, begin to brainstorm activities that help people practice the job tasks
