Criteria

Earning Criteria:

  • Earner has taken part in Responsible Futures auditor training. The training explored education's role in responding to the climate crisis, and how institutions and student leadership groups/unions can deliver education for sustainable development (ESD), including how institutions change through policy, strategy and governance. Earner learnt how to use the Responsible Futures framework to assess their institution's and student leadership group/union's ESD work.

  • Earner has followed instructions and undertaken a Responsible Futures audit of their institution and student leadership group/union partnership. Earners use critical thinking, data analysis and attention to detail to assess documentary evidence submitted by the partnership for review, make decisions on scoring, and provide feedback and recommendations on how sustainability education can be further integrated into the whole student learning experience to guide their institution's future work.

  • Earner has led on at least one of the audit interviews of staff from across the partnership leading on sustainability work. Earner has worked in a team writing and preparing questions, followed by building relationships with and interviewing the staff. The interviews require the Earner to put into practice time management and organisation, active listening, communication, and reflection skills.

  • Earner has contributed to the Responsible Futures programme, outcomes of which are increased whole-institution approaches for ESD, increased student leadership for ESD, increased connectivity and collaboration between institutions for ESD, and increased innovation for sustainability in learning. Responsible Futures supports institutions and students to collaboratively develop well-rounded university and college graduates who are active in creating a more sustainable world.
