An AHEAD Resource called ARK (Accessibility Resources and Know-How) hosts a series of courses about Digital Accessibility. This badge acknowledges that the participant has completed the AHEAD short course called 'Digital accessibility - Creating an Accessibility Statement. This short course equips the participant with legal information and accessibility awareness as well as frameworks to inform the creation of appropriate accessibility statements. The course is estimated to be approximately 2 hours long and all the content is online and self-directed.

AHEAD is an independent non-profit organisation working to create inclusive environments in education and employment for people with disabilities. The main focus of our work is further education and training, higher education and graduate employment.

AHEAD provides information to students and graduates with disabilities, teachers, guidance counsellors and parents on disability issues in education. We undertake national research relating to the inclusion of students with disabilities, contribute to national policy forums and provide professional development opportunities to develop the capacity of staff in FET and higher education to be more inclusive.

AHEAD works with graduates and employers through the GET AHEAD Graduate Forum and the WAM Mentored Work Placement Programme.

Criteria

The participant has developed digital accessibility awareness around the following matters:

  • Creating a Digital Accessibility Statement and what this involves.
  • The purpose of such a statement.
  • Legal dimensions to EU Digital accessibility.
  • How Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust (POUR) considerations inform Digital Accessibility.
  • Awareness about the extent of digital resources, tools and eco-systems in a Education al setting.
  • Awareness of The FACTS model for accessibility.
