This certificate is awarded as part of a training programme dedicated to assessing the maturity of Innovation Management Systems (IMS), based on the MIMS® Assessment (Maturity of Innovation Management System) tool. The MIMS® Assessment, aligned with ISO 56002 standard, enables a structured, objective, and reproducible evaluation of the maturity of an organisation’s innovation practices. It helps identify strengths, areas for improvement, and formulate operational recommendations aligned with the organisation’s innovation intent. The holder of this certificate has demonstrated the ability to prepare, conduct, and leverage an IMS maturity assessment based on MIMS®, as well as to present results in a clear, actionable manner to executives, innovation teams, and institutional stakeholders, while respecting principles of methodological rigour, neutrality, and confidentiality. Competence has been validated through a final assessment with a score equal to or greater than 80%.

Assessing innovation practices objectively

The MIMS® Assessment is a decision-support tool resulting from research and standardisation work, designed to analyse the maturity of an organisation’s innovation practices using a systemic approach. Based on a multi-criteria framework aligned with ISO 56002, it enables organisations to:

  • objectively assess existing practices,
  • compare different organisational profiles,
  • prioritise improvement levers,
  • support the development of sonsistent and realistic action plans.

The tool combines a structured approach, qualitative interviews, and interpretative analysis to deliver an assessment usable for strategic, managerial, or institutional purposes.

Key learnings

The recipient of this certificate has learned :

  • distinguishing between the concepts of innovation, innovation management and the Innovation Management System (IMS),
  • differentiate between evaluation, audit, and assessment in the context of innovation management,
  • understand maturity principles in relation with innovation practices and their link to overall organisational performance,
  • master the structure, logic, and evaluation criteria of the MIMS® Assessment,
  • prepare and conduct assessment interviews with executives, managers, and teams,
  • adopt an Assessment Facilitator posture distinct from that of a consultant or trainer,
  • analyse and interpret the results of an IMS maturity assessment,
  • formulate operational recommendations aligned with the organisation’s innovation intent,
  • present assessment results in a clear, structured manner adapted to the audience,
  • put assessment outcomes into perspective with the recommendations of ISO ISO 56002

How to obtain the certificate IMS | Assessment Facilitator

The certificate was issued on the basis of :

  • participation in an “IMS | Assessment Facilitator” training course delivered by a designer of MIMS® Assessment or a certified IMS | Assessment Facilitator Trainer,
  • practical application through IMS assessment case studies using the MIMS® Assessment tool,
  • passing the final knowledge assessment test with a minimum score of 80%. This test was developed by the Assesment designers and validates both the acquisition of knowledge related to IMS and analytical skills related to the assessment process.

The MIMS® Assessment is a tool published Innovation Way, company specialized in tools and methods for innovation consulting. Representatives of Innovation Way have been involved in the standardization work of ISO TC 279, which is responsible for developing ISO 56000 Series standards, since the committee was set up, both as experts and in leadership positions.

The MIMS® Assessment is designed and maintained by Innovation Way according to principles of scientific rigour, normative coherence, and continuous improvement

Special mention:

  • This certificate does not constitute a commercial license for the MIMS® Assessment. It certifies the holder’s ability to conduct an IMS maturity assessment using the MIMS® Assessment tool. This competence is complementary to the purchase of a licence granting access to the assessment tool.
  • Holders of the IMS | Assessment Facilitator certificate are authorized to conduct MIMS® Assessments in a commercial context.

ESCO classification

This certificate uses the European Commission's ESCO classification. The skills developed as part of this training and attested by this certificate are aligned with several of the skills identified in the ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) European reference framework. This correspondence facilitates the recognition of prior learning at European level, and reinforces the transferability of skills in the field of innovation.
