This Effective Employee programme, now in its third year in UCC consists of short (2.5 hour) sessions facilitated monthly by HR Managers. This programme is open to all staff of the university. The short workshops which comprise this programme are designed by HR Managers to provide specific work-related knowledge, guidance and practical skills enhancement to staff members across UCC. They are also intended to encourage individual self reflection, growth and confidence building. The workshops which take place cover a wide range of areas which enable personal effectiveness, growth and development and their aim is to support UCC staff in working effectively in the University. Each month a new topic is explored. Workshop titles for 2019/20 included: Managing Yourself, Your Time and Your Workload Effectively Developing Effective Assertiveness Skills Developing Effective Communication and Active Listening Skills Handling Difficult Interactions Managing Yourself Effectively through Change Giving, Receiving and Asking for Effective Feedback Effective Team Working – Your Role Handling Conflict Effectively at Work Influencing Others Effectively Knowing Yourself and how You work Effectively with Others Effective Awareness of Unconscious Bias Dealing Effectively with Change
