Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is a Higher Education technological university based in the west and northwest of Ireland.
In 2015 The United Nations Member States launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The SDGs are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Via various interactive videos and learning objects, the Sustainable Development Goal course in the Student Digital Backpack provides an overview of the core principles of each of the 17 SDGs, some of the key statistics, and a review of the targets and indicators associated with them.
On completion of the SDG course the user is issued this digital badge and will be aware of the SDG framework and able to articulate the aims and purpose of each of the goals.
To achieve the badge, the student must complete all of the content and pass a 17-question multiple choice quiz (with a score of at least 80%), which tests their knowledge of the goals and their targets.
