Additional Details

This activity takes days to complete. Earners access this activity for free.

  • Earner has contributed to the Drink Rethink project by acting as an ambassador for the project, which included approaching students on campus, supporting them to complete a recognised alcohol use identification tool and offering the student brief advice based on their alcohol risk level. Through this, earner has developed their active listening, relationship-building and communication skills in order to deliver a recognised behavioural intervention alongside a team of other ambassadors.
  • Earner has attended 'Drink Rethink Ambassador' training, delivered in person by SOS-UK. This training covered current research around student alcohol use, understanding alcohol units, delivering the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Tool (AUDIT), motivational interviewing techniques and how to be a good ambassador. The earner learnt how to deliver a behavioural intervention and how to approach students confidently to support engagement in the intervention.
  • Earner has engaged proactively with students at their institution, and encouraged them to take part in a behavioural intervention. Earner has independently approached students and explained concepts such as confidentiality, alcohol units and alcohol-related harms in a way which would engage students and support engagement in the intervention. Earner learnt how to quickly build relationships with others to provide a productive space in which the behavioural intervention could be conducted.
  • Earner has shown teamwork by working alongside other ambassadors to complete this project, with ambassadors expected to proactively support each other in busy periods if needed. Ambassadors were asked to generate content during the intervention, such as taking photographs or conducting interview, to promote the Drink Rethink project and were expected to manage this alongside conducting behavioural interventions.
  • Earner has received feedback during the behavioural intervention from students when appropriate and has received feedback in a debriefing meeting at the end of each intervention day. Earner has given feedback on their experience of conducting the behavioural intervention in order to support the development of the project, and raised concerns as appropriate. This includes escalating concerns about a student to a relevant welfare/wellbeing professional.
