Criteria

The badge holder is able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of at least one major game engine (e.g., Unity, Unreal, Godot).
  • Understand the engine’s pipeline from project creation to building a playable prototype.
  • Show familiarity with core engine workflows (scene setup, asset import) and use engine-specific debugging tools.
  • Import and configure essential assets (3D models, materials, textures, animations, audio).
  • Apply fundamental scene-building techniques, including skybox setup, lighting (baking, mapping), camera configurations, and cutscenes.
  • Incorporate basic user experience elements, such as UI elements and sound FX/music when assembling a scene.
  • Program at a beginner level in a language supported by the chosen engine (e.g., C++, C#).
  • Create scripts that follow the engine’s conventions for controlling actors/game objects, components, or instancing.
  • Configure physics simulations (collisions, triggers, particle FX) and develop simple gameplay workflows.
  • Build a simple playable prototype, combining assets, lighting, camera, UI, audio, and interactions.
