This milestone badge is a recognition of completion the Data Skills microdegree. After completing the microdegree, student has fundamental skills related to data engineering and analytics with tools offered by Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric. The microdegree covers of fundamental skills to understand, analyze, and utilize data effectively, as well as provides the knowledge and skills to work as a data professional in Azure. The microdegree consist two study paths: Data Engineering Essentials Study Path and Data Analyst Essentials Study Path. To receive the milestone badge, the student must have completed both of these study paths. Upon earning the milestone badge the student has demonstrated their expertise in the field by completing practical exercises and processing various subjects across the aforementioned topics. The scope of the microdegree – total of eight courses – is twelve European Study Credits (12 ECTS). This milestone badge has been granted by the course developers, namely Microsoft, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, and mentor companies.

Criteria

This milestone badge can be earned by successfully completing four introductory courses: Exploring Microsoft Azure (2 ECTS), Exploring Artificial Intelligence (2 ECTS), Exploring Data and Analytics (1 ECTS), and Data Analytics with Power BI (1 ECTS). In addition to these, the student must have completed advanced courses from the both study paths: the Data Engineering with Azure (2 ECTS) and Data Engineering with Fabric (1 ECTS) courses (included to Data Engineering Essentials Study Path), and Data Analytics with Azure (1 ECTS) and Data Analytics with Fabric (2 ECTS) courses (included to Data Analyst Essentials Study Path).

The microdegree is organized by Microsoft, Kajaani University of Sciences, and mentor companies. The microdegree is part of the Microsoft Skills for Jobs study program.

The Data Skills microdegree consists of multimodal theoretical content, practical exercises, and knowledge checks. The courses of the microdegree can be completed independently on the Edukamu study platform developed by Kajaani University of Applied Sciences.
