Earners of this badge successfully completed the ACTS Carbon Literacy Training for Educators in Australia & New Zealand and passed the subsequent assessment. Developed by Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) and accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project, the course explored climate science, the impacts and drivers of climate change, carbon emissions, systems thinking, communication and pathways to meaningful action. Participants also examined the role of educators in supporting climate awareness and action within school communities, including through leadership, operations, culture and teaching practice.

Criteria

  • Earner has developed an understanding of the science and impacts of climate change, the connections between climate change and social equity, and the role educators can play in supporting meaningful climate action within school communities. Participants also developed practical skills in communication, systems thinking and climate action planning, including approaches relevant to teaching practice, leadership and school operations.
  • Earner completed more than 8 hours of blended online learning, including interactive virtual workshops and self-directed study, and successfully passed the course assessment.
