This certifies the recipient has been nominated for an award by the open education community and will be considered in the review process for the awards issued in September 2026. Regardless of the selection of winners, Open Education Global celebrates and shares the efforts all nominated open educators.
"OpenCon Ohio Conference" has been nominated in the Open Practices Awards category (Regional Community Building).
"The reason this nomination deserves to be recognized with a 2026 Open Education Award for Excellence is because the OpenCon Ohio conference has been joyfully bringing open education advocates together for nearly ten years. Conference attendees learn about how to support one another with care, strategies for approaching new educational technologies, the role of inclusivity in the open education community, and more. This annual event not only unites librarians, instructional designers, faculty, students, administrators, and others from around the world, it is also a highlight of the year for the organizers. Most of the original organizers of the event are still on the planning committee all these years later, and our experience organizing this annual event is one of joy, connection, and a sense of accomplishment. We believe that our event promotes and celebrates open education in ways that benefit the entire education community, and we also believe that our planning process exhibits the values of open education too, through collaboration, peer learning, sharing, and inclusion."
