SOS UK is working to transform education, so people protect the climate and nature.
Earning Criteria:
Earner has attended the farm soil sampling and/or biodiversity monitoring introductory training session delivered by SOS UK. The training covered the aims of SOS UK's Farming for Carbon & Nature work and how farming in the UK can have a positive impact on the climate and nature crises. The training also defined the purpose of the farm surveying activities, outlined the methods, and described what would happen to the soil samples or biodiversity data collected.
Earner has volunteered their time to take soil samples and/or undertake biodiversity monitoring on at least one farm. Farm surveying requires volunteers to work as a team, methodically follow instructions to ensure scientific integrity, and to accurately record samples and observations. Earner has developed skills in attention to detail, time management, data collection, data entry, data analysis, basic numeracy, problem solving, health and safety, and decision making.
Earner has contributed valuable data to inform their institution's ability to monitor biodiversity and/or carbon on farms.
