2026 Open Education Award for Excellence Nominee

Open Education Global (OEGlobal) is a dedicated international non-profit organization that serves as a global advocate for open education. It comprises a diverse community of educators, students, researchers, innovators, activists, and policymakers who are united in transforming education systems worldwide. Since 2008, OEGlobal has been at the forefront of the global Open Education movement, promoting the application of open principles across all educational areas.

This certifies the recipient has been nominated for an award by the open education community and will be considered in the review process for the awards issued in September 2026. Regardless of the selection of winners, Open Education Global celebrates and shares the efforts all nominated open educators.

"Advanced Information Research Skills (AIRS)" has been nominated in the Open Assets Awards category (Researcher Skills Development OER).

"The Advanced Information Research Skills (AIRS) OER exemplifies excellence in open education by transforming a locally embedded, high-impact higher degree research skills program into a resource that can be accessed, adapted, and reused globally. At the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), AIRS underpins a mandatory unit that develops critical information literacy capabilities across the research lifecycle, enabling students to locate, evaluate, synthesise, and ethically use information to create knowledge. By publishing this work as an open resource on the QUT Pressbooks platform, the AIRS team has deliberately extended its reach beyond a single institution, cohort, or point in time. The OER addresses persistent challenges in higher degree/doctoral education, including disparate access to research skills support, the need for flexible, just-in-time learning, and the importance of ongoing access beyond enrolment. Openly licensed and designed for reuse, AIRS supports adaptation across disciplines and contexts, strengthening research capability more broadly. It demonstrates how libraries can lead in delivering inclusive, sustainable, and quality learning through open practice."
