GBIF TRAINER 2025

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is an international open data infrastructure, funded by governments. It allows anyone, anywhere to access data about all types of life on Earth, shared across national boundaries via the Internet.

CRITERIA

This badge certifies that the earner has collaborated as a trainer in capacity enhancement activities linked to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

GBIF training is addressed to a community of working professionals in the field of biodiversity informatics. The trainers assist the programme by completing one or more of the following tasks:

• Designing training events and activities (e.g. objectives, structure, agendas, group dynamics), following current best practices on instructional design.
• Developing and adapting training resources (including translation), such as presentations for online and live events, theoretical explanatory materials, exercises, use case documents, infographics and other multimedia resources.
• Directly supporting the students in their learning process through online and face-to-face interactions.
• Designing and implementing fair and transparent capacity assessment mechanisms supporting capacity certification within the programme.
