An AHEAD Resource called ARK (Accessibility Resources and Know-How) hosts a series of courses about Digital Accessibility. This badge acknowledges that the participant has completed the AHEAD short course called 'Digital accessibility - a whole institution approach'. The participant will have a wide range of awareness and knowledge of the legal considerations for digital practices across an organisation and how to begin the process of thinking and planning best practices. The course is estimated to be approximately 2 hours long and all the content is online and self-directed.

AHEAD is an independent non-profit organisation working to create inclusive environments in education and employment for people with disabilities. The main focus of our work is further education and training, higher education and graduate employment.

AHEAD provides information to students and graduates with disabilities, teachers, guidance counsellors and parents on disability issues in education. We undertake national research relating to the inclusion of students with disabilities, contribute to national policy forums and provide professional development opportunities to develop the capacity of staff in FET and higher education to be more inclusive.

AHEAD works with graduates and employers through the GET AHEAD Graduate Forum and the WAM Mentored Work Placement Programme.

Criteria

The participant has developed digital accessibility awareness around the following matters:

How digital accessibility is a legal requirement.
Awareness of basic digital accessibility skills on multiple levels.
The benefits of digital accessibility awareness and skills.
Awareness of who benefits from digital accessibility and how it supports inclusion.
How digital accessibility links with Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Best practices into creating and maintaining digital accessibility standards
