Learning goals

Throughout this stage of the course, participants developed skills to:

  1. Identify the elements of an inspection plan by defining the objectives, scope, tasks, personnel, and equipment needs to prepare and execute an efficient inspection
  2. Identify how to prepare on-site inspection activities and interactions with the regulated facility and its surrounding community to collect information that supports a compliance determination
  3. Recognize health and safety issues during inspections and to adequately mitigate risks at inspected facilities
  4. Describe the reasons for sampling, and how sampling is used to support a case for compliance or violation. You should also be able to recognize elements of a complete sampling plan and to identify the field equipment and supplies needed during an inspection
  5. Describe the reasoning and methods for conducting onsite interviews to collect information on environmental and social compliance issues

Learning experience and activities 

Self-paced course that includes:

  • Four modules with multimedia presentations and downloadable materials that describe how to plan and conduct a social and environmental compliance inspections (SECI)
  • One multiple choice quiz at the end of each module
  • One multiple choice quiz at the end of the stage

Content / Topics

This stage of the course has four modules covering the following topics:

  • Planning and Inspection
  • Performing Onsite Activities
  • Collecting Samples and Identifying Laboratory Issues
  • Conducting Interviews

Assessment description

Those who obtain the credential have successfully achieved one of the following options:

  • Option 1: Achieved a score of 90% or higher on the Stage 2 Placement Test.
  • Option 2: Successfully completed the following activities in stage 2:
    • Read the course content through interactive presentations
    • Responded to questions for reflection in the course discussion fora
    • Passed four learning assessment quizzes with 70% correct answers (one quiz for each course module). Two attempts per question
    • Passed one stage test with 70% correct answers. Two attempts per question

The average of the module quiz scores, and the stage test score is determined according to the following conditions:

  • Average of module quiz scores (75%)
  • Stage test score (25%)
