The recipient of the digital open badge has completed the 1st Module "Introduction to Research Data Management and Open Science" of the Data Steward training organised by the Tampere University. After completing the module, the recipient of the digital open badge will be able to define research data management and its importance in open and responsible conduct of research and understand what role data steward has in research data support services. This badge is part of the Data Steward meta badge. The training has been produced as part of Data Management Training Development Project funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Criteria

By the end of this Data steward –training Module 1, the badge recipient is able to:

Define research data management and understand its importance in the research process and in implementing good scientific practice
Identify common challenges and best practices in research data management, FAIR principles, and open science practices
Recognise the role of data stewards and other data (+methods) support personnel in research organisations
Identify the key ethical principles guiding research
Recognise the basic legal aspects in research data management

Competence has been demonstrated through assignments completed during and after the training.
