  • Earner attended a live zoom session as part of the Hinkley Point C Virtual Work Experience event to learn about STEM subjects (including structural integrity in an engineering environment).
  • Earner has worked through the resources provided (and carried out their own research) to review typical bridge designs and decide on the one that would be most suitable for the materials they’ve been told to use. They used analytical and critical thinking to make their decision as to which design would be most effective to meet the objective given.
  • Earner has used their initiative to find the most effective way to secure the dry spaghetti and construct their bridge successfully. They displayed good listening skills, taking on board advice provided by experts on the live zoom session and took into account key principles that need to be considered when building and constructing a bridge to withstand weight.
  • Earner has displayed an understanding of engineering principles by constructing a bridge made of dry spaghetti that was able to hold a weight of 2KG or more for at least 10 seconds. They showed good attention to detail, and carried out this task in a confident and enthusiastic manner.
  • Earner submitted a photo and/or video showing their bridge design holding weights equivalent to 2KG or more.
  • This badge is only available to Students, Members or Employees.
  • Accessed online.
