FORTHEM (Fostering Outreach within European Regions, Transnational Higher Education and Mobility) is a network of nine multidisciplinary public research universities located in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Spain. Green Sustainability is one of the main focus areas of the FORTHEM Alliance, which is committed to advancing a sustainable and environmentally responsible European University. To pursue this objective, the Alliance has established a Green Sustainability Unit, composed of academic and administrative experts from each partner university. This Unit serves as a central contact point for activities, initiatives, and requests related to environmental sustainability across the network. Among its key goals is the development of a map of Green Routes across the cities of the Alliance. Students selected for this initiative will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the design and implementation of this project, working in collaboration with an international team of experts dedicated to sustainability within the European University framework.

Through effective teamwork and a strong commitmentto sustainability, he produced high-quality materials aimed at promoting environmentally responsible mobility across the Alliance.

Overview of the Work Carried Out

As part of this activity, Emmanuel Apetorgbor prepared and documented green travel routes for the FORTHEM Green Travel Grid. His work focused on the following routes:

Route 1: round trip Dijon-Jyväskylä

Route 2: round trip Jyväskylä-Kristiansand

For each route, he researched, compared, and documented four different modes of travel: Air travel (plane) Rail transport (train) Long-distance bus Car travel The comparison considered practical travel options and contributed to raising awareness of more sustainable travel choiceswithin the FORTHEM community. His work supports the Alliance's commitment to environmental sustainability and informed decision-making regarding mobility.
