The SEE Board of Directors includes approximately 20 experiential education professionals who serve two-year terms as volunteer servant leaders. Board members are voted in with a formal nomination process. The Board includes two non-voting members: one ELTHE Journal representative and one Historian. Board members have significant roles in guiding the Society, as advocates, leaders, and ambassadors, by contributing to the culture, strategic focus, effectiveness, and financial sustainability of NSEE. The Board of Directors have three legal obligations: 1. Duty of Care: Take care of the Society by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people, and good will. 2. Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the Society’s activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission. 3. Duty of Obedience: Ensure that the Society obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and that the Society adheres to its stated corporate purposes/m

Criteria

Criteria (1) nominated by a current Board member,(2) meet all of the prerequisite qualifications, (3) voted in by the full board, and (4) takes office at the Annual Meeting. All NSEE Board members are expected to do the following: 1. Act as a liaison to one or multiple committees 2. Make a good faith effort to attend all NSEE programming they are invited to by other board members and committee chairs 3. Attend and meaningfully engage at all mandatory Board meetings and events 4. Be responsive to email and other communications channels used for events Non-Voting Members: The Historian must be an active member in good standing and shall serve a term of four years. The Historian may be reappointed one time. The ELTHE representative sits on the Board as a non-voting member and is appointed by the Board of Directors. The ELTHE Representative must be an active member in good standing.
