2026 Open Education Award for Excellence Nominee

Open Education Global (OEGlobal) is a dedicated international non-profit organization that serves as a global advocate for open education. It comprises a diverse community of educators, students, researchers, innovators, activists, and policymakers who are united in transforming education systems worldwide. Since 2008, OEGlobal has been at the forefront of the global Open Education movement, promoting the application of open principles across all educational areas.

This certifies the recipient has been nominated for an award by the open education community and will be considered in the review process for the awards issued in September 2026. Regardless of the selection of winners, Open Education Global celebrates and shares the efforts all nominated open educators.

"WikiConecta" has been nominated in the Open Assets Awards category (MOOC).

"The reason this nomination deserves recognition with the Open Education Excellence Award 2026 is that WikiConecta turns open learning into a concrete, scalable, and reusable practice: it combines training, collaborative curation, and knowledge production into a pathway that enables people to edit, verify, and share high-quality information in Wikimedia environments (such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Wikiversity). In doing so, the course expands access to open knowledge, builds digital and information literacy skills, and creates a replicable model for other communities, institutions, and educational settings. More than a course, WikiConecta is an open education infrastructure in action: it connects people, strengthens a culture of collaboration, and shows how learning can generate lasting public impact at low cost and with broad potential for replication."
