Recipients of the basics of keyboard skills badge participated in an IT lab practical setting where they studied ergonomics, the keyboard and its functions. They then progressed to developing their keyboard skills by becoming adept at the use of the home keys. On-site learning facilitated learners to seek help when necessary and also allowed the lecturer to oversee the learners' posture and movement, which is very important to get right in the early stages of keyboard skills development. Speed and accuracy in touch typing are consolidated through regular use and practice through self-directed learning, with the potential to become a skill for life.
