This badge recognises successful completion of the DATAETHICS Winter School 2025, an intensive international programme hosted by the Eurolife Network. The programme addressed the ethical, legal, and societal dimensions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Biomedical Big Data (BBD) in healthcare, biomedical research, and public health. Particular emphasis was placed on social justice, legal accountability, algorithmic bias, equity, diversity and inclusion, transparency, explainability, and responsible data governance. Through expert lectures, interactive discussions, problem-based learning, and interdisciplinary exchange, participants developed critical understanding and the practical skills for responsible and inclusive innovation in digital health and life sciences.

Criteria

The badge is awarded to participants who have successfully completed the DATAETHICS Winter School 2025 and actively engaged in the academic programme, including lectures, group exercises, interactive discussions, collaborative learning formats such as problem-based learning and the Ethical Café, and delivered apresentation on selected ethical dilemmas to a panel of experts.

  • identify and critically assess challenges related to bias, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accountability in data-driven biomedical contexts

  • apply ethical reasoning to case-based and problem-based scenarios in healthcare, public health, and biomedical research
  • reflect critically on transparency, explainability, fairness, and responsibility in AI-enabled systems
  • engage effectively in interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogue on complex ethical questions
  • integrate ethical, legal, and social considerations into decision-making in research, policy, regulation, and innovation contexts
  • demonstrate strengthened transversal competences including critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and ethical reflection
