Student Tutor Certificate

has participated in the student tutor trainings organized by the University of Oulu, and has acted as a tutor for new students at the University of Oulu in the autumn semester of 2025. Student tutors introduce new degree students to their studies and the university community. Tutoring is part of the university’s curriculum and are carried out in small groups of approximately 10–15 students. Student tutors provide information about the start of studies, the university community, the study environment, and especially their own field of study. An important part of tutoring is supporting new students’ group formation and their integration into the university community. Serving as a tutor develops interaction and guidance skills, group facilitation abilities, and communication skills. The role strengthens organizational and teamwork skills, sense of responsibility, and problem-solving abilities. The experience also builds language skills, international competence and the ability to support and guide people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
