Universitat de València (Spain) and Université de Bourgogne (France) present a series of conferences on Ethics and Scientific Integrity (ESI), which will enable participants to perform, review or report research avoiding misconduct such as data fabrication, falsification, and cyberplagiarism.

Criteria

This team-teaching course will review and explore the main ethical principles and legislation relating to scientific research, and the latest ESI issues.

Please, use this form to apply for the course "Academic integrity in Higher Education", developed by Cinta Gallent (Universitat de València) and Bénédicte Coste (Université de Bourgogne). It is open to Master and PhD students from the FORTHEM Alliance.

This team-teaching course applies fundamental ethical principles and legislation to scientific research, including issues of research integrity.

Program

Sessions will deal with the following topics:

Session 1: “Ethics and Scientific Integrity for Dummies” - January 11, 2023

Session 2: “Academic Misconduct at university level: factors encouraging students to make unethical use of information” - January 18, 2023

Session 3: “Pseudoscientific publishing models and strategies: the case of predatory journals and conferences” - January 25, 2023

Session 4: “Challenges of Artificial Intelligence for Ethics and Scientific Integrity” - February 1, 2023

An Open Badge will be issued to all students who have attended 75% of the course and completed the activities proposed during the sessions (e.g., Padlet, collaborative tasks, and discussions).

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) of the European Parliament and Council 2016/679, of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data, through this form, the participants in the "Academic Integrity in Higher Education" (1st ed.) course confirm their interest in taking part in this initiative. The data obtained through this document, as well as that deriving from the results of the activity, will only be used for research purposes in the field of ethics and scientific integrity.
