Personal Effectiveness

Careercred.com provides a national framework and badge system for employability skills.

Personal Effectiveness is the enveloping workplace skill set which represents the translation of core skills into goal-achieving attitudes and behaviour. This badge is about your readiness to approach the challenge of work and life with determination, optimism and emotional intelligence.

To earn this badge you need to demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Self-awareness and emotional intelligence, i.e. knowledge and acceptance of your own strengths and weaknesses
  • Resilience including ability to take positives from failures experienced and to remain calm even when criticised.
  • Ability to actively participate, be enthusiastic and invigorate others.

To demonstrate these abilities you must complete the following THREE tasks:

  1. Take a resilience test
  2. Reflect on your core skills
  3. Create a 60 sec. elevator pitch

To earn the Careercred Personal Effectiveness Badge you must complete the FOUR missions listed below.

Based on your self-awareness and your experience of earning badges so far, rank these 7 skills in order from 1 to 7, where 1 represents the skill you are strongest in and 7 represents the skill you are seeking to develop the most.

__________________________________________ MISSION 3 - CREATE A 60 SEC. ELEVATOR PITCH __________________________________________ An elevator pitch is a brief persuasive presentation that you use to spark interest, in this case in yourself. The presentation will usually be a video, but you could also record a podcast, create an animation or even record a song! Whatever the format, it is crucial that the viewer is engaged in what you have to say and is able to quickly understand who you are and what you are capable of. Having completed a number of careercred badges and completed the first 2 missions in this badge, you should have plenty to say about yourself!
